Parent Coaching Opportunities!
Parents are in charge of the "hidden training" - sleep, nutrition, rest, love and support. One of the special jobs parents are able to help with, is to support the FRHS coaching staff's philosophy by organizing, volunteering and safely providing food/drinks for the Team Dinners/Breakfasts & Swim Meet Fueling.
Meet Fueling Information
The parents of fish, have watched their kiddo learn, eat swim, grow, eat, swim again and eat some more for as long as time has been around. As we all know, competition uses a lot of food to fuel the body and often times these students go straight from school to the competition and back to the school again before they get home to eat a good meal, often getting home late at night.
An important part of muscle recovery greatly depends on getting complex carbs and proteins into the body within 45 minutes of extreme exertion, in order to recover properly. After this time-frame, without proper re-fueling, the body can spend up to 72 hours getting itself repaired and back into the same condition it was prior to that initial 45 minute period.
Join together and sign up to create a supportive FRHS Swim Team Community, so the coaches and swimmers can create the TEAM culture for 2021-22! This year we have approximately 50 competitors onboard. Please sign up to bring healthy snacks (bagels, peanut butter tubes, granola bars, muffins, pretzels, fruit snacks, energy bars, dried fruit pouches, and nuts pouches, etc.) and/or hydration (Gatorade, Propell, Powerade, AllSport, flavored sparkly water, etc.) The more who sign up, the better off our competitors will be! All your help is much appreciated.
What we Need for each Meet:
*3 slots- each providing hydration for 30
*2 slots- each with fruit snacks for 40 (bulk Welches or Motts)
*3 slots- each for individually wrapped carbs/spread for 20
*2 slots- each for bulk granola/energy bars for 40
Please be mindful of items that need cooling/refrigeration as we had an incident with cream cheese during the girls season... (Yikes!)

Team Dinner Information
Team dinners are a great way for the athletes to bond together and unify their team. Parents supporting the competitors by offering a carb-rich meal (pasta, pasta, pasta!) the night before a competition is a way to prepare the athlete's body by filling the muscles with glycogen. This, complemented with protein, fats, vitamins and minerals is a highly recommended routine for better performance. Additionally ,well-hydrated and well-rested competitors will wake up feeling more energized and ready to go!

Host Meet Volunteer Staff
Each time we have a home "hosted" meet, the team is responsible for providing everything that would normally happen behind the scenes. In addition to running the scoreboard, parents (or friends of are also in charge of running the meet computer, the timing consul and running individual stop watches at the end of each lane. The meet computer is something that you would need to train on (shadow) for a meet or two since CHSAA, MaxPreps and MeetMobile take their times from it. It also means a lot to the competitors to see friendly faces around the pool as they prepare to compete.
What we Need for Hosting:
*1 meet computer operator (and one shadow until 1-2 are also proficient)
*1 timing console operator
*10 timers

Creativity Team
In addition to all the above opportunities, parents also work on projects throughout the season. Some of these include banners for meets, senior appreciation, fun mementos or gear for swimmers at Leagues and State, photo galleries, awards and the final team banquet. Check back regularly to see if there are more options. If you have any of your own ideas you'd like to implement and need volunteers, please speak up!
